A history of Alan Randle

Alan Randle, Chartered Surveyor, commenced business in 1934 and was for a long time the only Agent in Potters Bar.

Potters Bar was little more than a village centred on the northern end of the High Street. In 1850 it was decided to build a railway station about a mile away in Darkes Lane, a quiet country lane in the middle of fields, half way to South Mimms. Alan Randle could see the potential and demands of an ‘up and coming’ town and set up business in a timber hut located in the High Street (which can still be seen today, but now situated behind one of the shops in Darkes Lane). Since then we have probably acted for Clients in every road in the area, in fact is it not unusual for us to have sold the same property more than once, and this can only be achieved because Clients trust and respect our advice.
